## Print fleet emissions calculator for Australian climate reporting

For finance teams with 5 or more offices across states, in tonnes of CO2e a year.

- Built on the 2026 to 27 grid factors
- Scope 2 and Scope 3, site by site
- No commitment to use it

The short answer
Your printer fleet is one line in a climate report, and this page writes it.

Enter each office with its state and its printers.

The state sets the grid factor, so a Victorian printer counts more than a Tasmanian one.

Paper is counted from the pages, at a published factor.

Every factor is named under the table with its source.

#### Why does the same printer count more in Victoria?

The map darkens with the grid factor, so the same device counts more in Victoria than in Tasmania.

The numbered badges count the printers in your rows, and the figures in each state are the 2026 to 27 factors.

### A written figure for the same offices

The calculator above counts the tonnes. This form prices the fleet.

Send the same rows with your details and the figure comes back in writing, built from the three published plans.

### Turn the same rows into a written price

Your rows go with it. The written price follows the call.

The calculator turns the printers and pages at each office into kilowatt hours and tonnes of emissions, for Australian climate reporting.

### Which emission factors the numbers are built on

Four published sources, each read on 20 September 2026.

Every factor the calculator uses, with its source.

Scope 2 electricity, by state

- NSW and ACT 0.60
- Victoria 0.74
- Queensland 0.65
- South Australia 0.21
- WA south west 0.45
- Tasmania 0.21
- Northern Territory 0.55

kg CO2e per kWh

Data from the NGER Measurement Determination, as amended by F2026L00855, for 2026 to 27

Scope 2, the two grids the law leaves out

- WA north west 0.56
- National 0.62

kg CO2e per kWh

Data from the National Greenhouse Accounts Factors 2025, Table 1, until the 2026 rows are read

Scope 3 electricity, by state

- NSW and ACT 0.03
- Victoria 0.09
- Queensland 0.09
- South Australia 0.04
- WA south west 0.06
- WA north west 0.09
- Tasmania 0.03
- Northern Territory 0.09

kg CO2e per kWh

Data from the National Greenhouse Accounts Factors 2025, Table 1

#### How much power and paper does each printer count for?

Electricity per device

- Desktop printer 0.62
- A4 multifunction 0.64
- A3 multifunction 0.46

kWh a week

Data from the ENERGY STAR imaging equipment register: entry 2398252 for the desktop, 2401825 for the A4 and 3619512 for the A3

Paper

- Office paper 1.344

kg CO2e per kg, primary paper, cradle to gate

Data from the UK Government GHG Conversion Factors 2026, published 11 June 2026

A sheet of A4

- One sheet 4.99

grams at 80 gsm

Arithmetic, 0.210 by 0.297 metres

A year is 52 weeks of the register's weekly figure, for every device of that class.

Scope 2 and Scope 3 electricity are listed apart, because a report lists them apart.

The whole managed print service for several offices comes with a report for each site.

So each office is already on its own line.

A page count from a device beats a guess, and a written review of each office before you commit records one.

### Want the same rows priced under one agreement

Send the offices and roughly what each one prints. The figure comes back in writing.

### Put the emissions calculator on your own site

One line, and the same tool appears on your page.

The frame carries the calculator alone, with a line under it naming where the numbers come from.

It works as a carbon calculator for office printers and copiers, never for vehicles.

Nothing is read from your page, and no cookie is set on your domain.

<script src="https://managedprinterservices.com/assets/embed.js" async></script>
When the factors are updated here, a page carrying the frame carries the new ones.

The frame resizes to fit the calculator as offices are added.

It loads only as a reader scrolls near it.

The copy button works inside the frame too.

### Why the paper factor is not Australian

Six facts, each with a date.

- Australia stopped making white office paper in January 2023 Opal's Maryvale mill in Victoria ran its last ream of Reflex that month, after its timber supply ended. ABC News
- Reflex is now made in Thailand Opal sold its paper brand to Double A in October 2023, and the paper is now made in Thailand. Office Products News
- Opal left Climate Active on 1 November 2023 Its carbon neutral paper figures stopped that day and were averages across its whole paper range in any case. Climate Active

#### Where does that leave the paper factor today?

- Climate Active itself closes The government announced the end on 24 July 2026, with 30 June 2027 the proposed last day. Federal climate department
- Boyer Mill is the only Australian maker since 2026 Its Tasmanian line that cuts reels into sheets began commissioning in January 2026, and it publishes no product footprint. Boyer Corporation
- Most copy paper here is imported The Anti Dumping Commission's case 551 covers A4 copy paper from four countries. Enter your supplier's figure

A cradle to gate factor counts an imported virgin ream up to the mill gate, and this page uses the UK government's.

From $160 + GST a month per printer.

Standard plans, tailored to your fleet. Excess page rates are stated in your quote and are normally the same at every location.

Paper, staples and pages above your agreed volume sit outside that figure.

### Where the line goes once it is written

The calculator measures a fleet. It does not compare two.

Under one agreement, the fleet is billed on a single invoice, and every site gets a report.

Each office arrives on its own line, the way this table wants it.

Each site report carries the page counts this calculator asks for.

Secure release holds a job until a card is presented, and the uncollected pages it stops are pages never printed.

The three published plans name what each device includes each month, and the plan sets nothing here.

What a CFO needs from the agreement is in the five terms a finance team weighs.

### How do you calculate a printer fleet's carbon footprint?

Unlike a vehicle fleet, an office printer fleet burns no fuel, so it has no Scope 1 line.

The calculation has 2 parts: the electricity each printer draws, plus the paper it uses.

- Count the desktop printers and multifunction devices at each office.
- Multiply each device's weekly kilowatt hours by 52 for a year.
- Apply that state's electricity grid emission factor to give Scope 2.
- Add the Scope 3 factor for indirect emissions upstream of the meter.
- Weigh the paper from the page count, as purchased goods and services under Scope 3.

CO2e, or carbon dioxide equivalent, adds the other greenhouse gases at their warming effect.

A device's lifecycle emissions, from manufacture to disposal, fall outside this calculation.

The methodology above names every source, so a sustainability team can check each step.

### What finance teams ask next

The answers name a source or say there is none.

#### Which factors does the calculator use?

The 2026 to 27 Scope 2 electricity factors for each state, from the NGER Measurement Determination.

The Scope 3 electricity factors from the National Greenhouse Accounts Factors 2025.

Typical weekly electricity for three device classes from the ENERGY STAR register.

The UK government's 2026 factor for primary paper, counted up to the mill gate.

#### Why is there no Australian paper factor?

Australia stopped making white office paper in January 2023, when Maryvale ran its last ream.

The one mill making copy paper since 2026, Boyer in Tasmania, publishes no product footprint.

The scheme that once certified paper here, Climate Active, closes by 30 June 2027.

A supplier with its own declared figure can be entered above the table.

#### Is this a figure I can put in a climate report?

The figure is an estimate from published factors and the page says so.

Every factor is named under the table with its source and the date it was read.

The report line names the method, so an auditor can trace it.

Supplier data comes first under AASB S2, so use a supplier's figure where one exists.

#### Does the calculator need my printers' page counts?

A rough monthly page count per office is enough to start.

The paper column is arithmetic from pages at 80 gsm, so a better count gives a better tonne.

What you type is sent nowhere until you choose to send it.

#### Who has to report from 1 July 2027?

Companies meeting two of three tests report from 1 July 2027: $50 million revenue, $25 million in assets, or 100 employees.

ASIC publishes the groups and the dates.

A company with five to ten offices can meet that test.

Its printer fleet appears in the report as a Scope 2 and a Scope 3 line.

### Price the rows you counted

A page count report per site comes with it.

### Price the fleet you just counted

The rows above travel with this form.

A written figure against those offices follows the call, and you are not committed by asking.
