Opal sold its paper brand to Double A in October 2023, and the paper is now made in Thailand.
Its carbon neutral paper figures stopped that day and were averages across its whole paper range in any case.
The government announced the end on 24 July 2026, with 30 June 2027 the proposed last day.
Its Tasmanian line that cuts reels into sheets began commissioning in January 2026, and it publishes no product footprint.

The calculation has 2 parts: the electricity each printer draws, plus the paper it uses.

A device's lifecycle emissions, from manufacture to disposal, fall outside this calculation.
